Obituary of Merle MacArthur

MacArthur: Merle Alma May 11th, 1921- January 19th, 2012 Suddenly on Thursday, January 19th, 2012, at Oak Terrace Nursing Home in Orillia Ontario. Merle is survived by her loving husband of 73 years Malcolm. Loving and caring mother of Judy MacLeod (Milford), David (Betty), Don (Heidi), and Ron. Proud grandmother of Kim, Stacy, Lori-Ann, Jeffrey, Stephen, Jennifer, Michael, and Matthew. Great grandmother to DJ, Adam, Jacob, Jayden and Noah. Merle is survived by sisters Myra, Eileen and Greta and brothers Donald, Bardon and Jimmy, and Sisters in law Barbara and Laura-Jean. Merle is predeceased by her parents Angus and Ethel Yorke (Alton, Nova Scotia), her sister Alta and brother Harry. Merle will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church 300 Coldwater Road West Orillia on Sunday January 29th from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations to the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated and will be received by the Simcoe Funeral Home 38 James Street E.
