Obituary of Joanne MacIver Watson
Joanne MacIver Watson
Oct 22nd 1948 - Oct 4th 2021
She is mourned and sorely missed by her two sons Jeffrey John and Marcus Patrick and her golden retriever Breagha (the wonder dog). Joanne MacIver Watson born Oct 22, 1948 in Bracebridge to Ken MacIver of Toronto and Edna Cook MacIver of Medonte. Joanne was the first of five siblings (Ian, Nancy, Ronald, Warren) and lived in Central Ontario before her parents settled them in Orillia. She attended Park Street Collegiate and has always spoken fondly of her friends and time spent in the cheerleading squad and drama club. Shortly after high school she met, fell in love with and married Roger Knox Watson in ‘67. They had two sons Jeffrey John and Marcus Patrick. Joanne and her family travelled extensively for business throughout Canada in the ‘70’s from east to west, north to south. Joanne was particularly fond of Vancouver Island and Nova Scotia. Joanne and Roger divorced in the early 80’s and Joanne returned to Orillia from Toronto, acquired her real-estate license and entered the market during the recession of the late 80’s. Strength of character and wilful resolve propelled her forward and she rode out the ups and downs of real-estate as a career. She became involved with the Kiwanis Club and volunteered extensively at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in the 2000’s. Throughout her life Joanne kept canines and had a special fondness in her heart for Golden Retrievers. She is survived by Jeffrey, Marcus, Ian, Nancy, Warren and Breagha.
