At Trillium Manor Orillia on Wednesday November 21st 2018 in her 95th year. Lillian Gillett (nee Winstanley) of Severn, beloved wife of the late Alvin Charles Gillett. Much loved mother of Elizabeth Allsopp, Shirley Gillett (John), Beverly Tucker (Bill) and David Gillett (Katy). Loving grandmother of Alison Hunting (Alastair), Jonathan Allsopp (Shazmin) , Ailenne Allsopp, Megan Fortier (Shawn) , Aaron Tucker (Jessica), Nathan Tucker, Harry Gillett (Christi), Molly-Claire Gillett and Samuel Gillett, and great-grandmother to Oliver Fortier.
Before marrying Alvin and moving to the family farm near Marchmont, Lillian was a Bell Telephone operator in Toronto. She was a charter member of the Gideons' Auxiliary and also a member of the Coffee Hour Committee at Simcoside Lifepointe Church for many years. “Mrs.Lillian” taught Sunday Schoolfor over 70 years. She was very musical, and once even sang at Massey Hall in Toronto. She was the Pianist at Foxmead Gospel Hall and later at Simcoside Lifepointe Church. Lillian was always ready to help those in need.She possessed a great sense of humour; she loved to tell jokes and ask her grandchildren riddles. She will be greatly missed by the hundreds whose lives she impacted in big and small ways.
A service and reception to celebrate Lillian’s life will be held at Simcoside Lifepointe Church-113 Simcoe Street Orillia on Friday December 28thfrom 1 – 3 pm. If desired, memorial donations to The Gideon Bible Memorial Plan or Child Evangelism Fellowship would be appreciated and may be made through the Simcoe Funeral Home 38 James Street E. Orillia.
