Lillian Currie

Obituary of Lillian Currie

CURRIE , LILLIAN [nee Blair] Our mother belongs to the ages. Lillian was born on December 20, 1915 to William and Lily (nee McArthur) Blair, in Sioux Lookout Ontario. She was the youngest of five siblings: Hugh, Robert, Jean and Katherine. Fatherless at the age of two her childhood was spent with the rest of her struggling family in Orillia. Summers, at the McArthur farm on the 6th of Oro, were spent with joy and created many fond memories. Going to her roots in the country provided a life well lived. Living through the depression and hard times provided her with the steel and independence to deal with life’s challenges. It was through her visits to her McArthur aunts and uncles that she met her husband John Currie. They married and settled on the farm on the 7th line. Life on a farm, while seemingly idyllic, is full of worries and toil. Along with the day-to-day farm life, motherhood happened. Barbara and Diane came first on the scene and fourteen years later Robert arrived. Over the years, son-in-laws, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren came into and enriched her life. The family would like to thank Palliative Care nurses Janice, Cathy and Tara, Doctors Trimble and Lekas and the rest of the kind and caring staff of RVH. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street East, Orillia.
