Dear Kate; Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and that I am so sorry to hear that Bill passed away. You must miss him terribly. You have had an incredibly stressful few years looking after Bill and then your Dad and then losing them both so close together. But they were so lucky to have you in their corner. Do take care of yourself. Tanis

I met Bill in 1970 at Boyles when I started my first job in Canada. He became our family guide both in my new job and the new country. Bill guided me to Barrie for buying my first car. He even supplied a dog for our children. His giving and caring friendship was generous and continued through 35 years of long distance correspondence and finally a get together with Bill & Kate on his 65th birthday. We had our first meeting with Kate and realized that Bill was very fortunate to receive the caring and love when he most needed it. Bill will be missed for his twinkling eyes, humour and his caring and generous friendship. Kate, we pray that you endure his absence and be strong to build your future.

As kids we did lots of kid things, one of the things that comes to mind was when we went to an old castle near my home. The castle was in the middle of a wooded area, no roof, looked very overgrown. The only way in was by climbing up the walls to a dungeon window, some kids prior to our visit had chipped away at the bottom of one of the bars, and above the top of the bar, it was a simple thing then to lift up the bar and get into the dungeon. The stairwell was very dangerous but, as kids, we saw no danger, once upstairs we heard voices outside, we carefully looked out, and, saw someone of some importance. We were taken aback when we heard akey turn in the door lock. imagine the surprise to us, as well as the owners of the site when we met inside the castle. Needless to say we exited through the doorway instead of the window.

Kathy, we both are so saddened by Bill's passing. Such a kind, welcoming and generous man! Your joy together was obvious and made being with you both a real and memorable pleasure. Be strong, Kate, as you always are and rest well, Bill. You are missed.

Dear Kathy, I was so sorry to hear about Bill! He was a caring, friendly, wonderful man. You and I were so close when we were young but then, of course, life happens and we end up going our separate ways. But I have always kept up through mom and the love and caring you gave to Bill is inspiring. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and although there is really nothing that can be said to lesson the sorrow you feel, my one piece of advice would be that you let your love be your strength and know that Bill loved you and I know he was blessed to have had you in his lives. Vicky

Just a brief note to mark the passing of a warm and sincere man who was much loved by all those who knew him; and who responded to his great sense of humour and wealth of knowledge. He managed the difficult task of combining dignity and hilarious anecdotes, with a realistic sense of his own life and those of others close to him. He will be much missed. Special love to Kate, the love and buttress of his life.

Bill was a wonderful Poppa and will be greatly missed by us both. So many good times were had with Kate & Bill over the years. Mackenzie asked me to remind Grandma of all the fun she had with Poppa and the dogs singing "The Old Brown Cow" and Poppa would lick his chin. She still roars with laughter singing it today. Bill was always so kind to us and every visit was filled with laughter. We thank him for bringing extra light to our lives. We will miss him.

We always felt welcomed by Kate's warmth and Bill's ready smile and hospitality, whenever we visited the home by the lake. The brogue may be stilled but not the memories, pleasant every one. George and Peg
