Macdonald: Doris Marie
At the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Thursday February 17th 2011 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of Ian Macdonald and the late Jack Johnson. Loving mother of Jacqui and her husband Dick Byers of Bayshore Village and the late David Johnson. Loving grandmother of Kathryn, Stephen and Kimberly. Great grandmother of Mikayla, Ashlee, Dylan, Olivia, Mitchell, Sawyer, Brooke and Cadence. Dear sister of Norman Lewis (Gwendolyn) of Collingwood, Ronald Lewis (Joan) of Orillia and the late Beverley McMurray. Doris lived life to the fullest. A woman of determination, a zest for life and an abundance of creative talent. Doris endured some of life's most unkind tragedies with unfailing strength. She lived through experiences that would have brought most to their knees. She fought crippling and painful arthritis while at the same time creating stunning porcelain dolls and painting fanciful watercolours. She fought her last battle against cancer with unwavering courage. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Soldier's Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Greg Armstrong for their dedication and care. Visitation will be held at Simcoe Funeral Home-38 James Street E. Orillia on Monday February 21st from 12 noon until a celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
