We first met Alan and his mom and dad on our European trip in 1985. My niece Donna, who was also on this trip, is here in Arizona with us right now and just last night we were reminescing about this wonderful trip and the great time we had with Alan, Betty and Hugh. It is so sad that they are all gone now but we have beautiful memories of this exciting trip. Donna was only 22 at the time and she couldn't talk enought about how wonderful Betty and Hugh were and the fun time she had with Alan. I am sure, Faye, that you are reflecting on many wonderful memories as well as we mark the first year anniversary of Alan's death. We still miss chatting with him on the phone.

I will ALWAYS remember the times I spent with Alan on "Bingo" days at LeisureWorld Care Centre in Orillia. Alan was comical at times......and the residents and staff REALLY loved him. After bingo we would go to Tim Horton's in Orillia for a special treat. Alan's favourite drink was a large fruit smoothy with yogurt.....the "yogurt" was the important part! LOL. I remember the times I would visit Alan at the Atrium. The first time I took him up to the stationary "train" on Hwy. 12 at Weber's he was amazed at this & enjoyed his french fries & hamburger. He delighted at the pics I took of him which he proudly hung on his wall at home. It was always a pleasure to spend time with Alan & he would always ask me to go with him to any events for volunteers that LeisureWorld would have happening for their volunteers. During Alan's last days while I was visiting him in the hospital I admired his courage and his attitude which always remained positive and strong. He will be deeply missed by ALL who had the privilege of knowing him. I will really miss Alan, and will remember him fondly...a client who quickly became my very dear friend. I believe he is in Heaven where I know he will be okay. Rest in peace, my friend. With many fond and affectionate memories.....from your friend, Sharon

Dear Faye: I continue to be saddened because of Alan's passing,,,but I do believe he is in a better place....Heaven, where I know he will be okay. It does make me feel a bit better knowing that he is no longer in pain, no longer has cancer but now has a perfect body! I will ALWAYS remember Alan (as shared just a few minutes ago in my story on this website). As a client he quickly became my very dear friend. If it wasn't for Alan I would probably never have met you and for that I am TRULY thankful. I consider you a very dear friend also. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers daily and my prayer is that you will experience God's comfort, peace and blessings in a very real way during the very difficult days ahead. With love from your friend, Sharon.

I was extremely saddened to hear of Alan's passing. He was an absolute pleasure to know, and made my soul smile every time I had the honor of speaking with him. I would assist Alan with his banking, and thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to interact with him. Faye, may you find peace and comfort in his memory. My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies.

Dear Faye, I was so sad to get your telephone call on Thursday telling me that Alan had passed away. He was a trooper right to the end, even though I knew when I chatted with him a couple of days prior to his passing that he wasn't the same Alan--he had lost some of his spark. I love the story you tell about Alan wanting your wedding photo where he could see it and the comment about Steve. I am sure that Steve was there to greet him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult days. Let's keep in touch and hopefully we can have a visit one day soon. With Sympathy, Miriam and Cliff
