Obituary of Paul Albers

Paul Egon Albers December 25, 1927 - February 22, 2015 It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Paul Egon Albers on Sunday morning at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, with his youngest son at his side. Known as Egon Poul Albers in Denmark, he had an adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit. As a youth, Paul was a junior member of the Danish Youth Resistance movement during WWII. He then emigrated to Canada where he became a miner and an award-winning dairy farmer. When he retired, he left behind his successful Albers Service Centre & Restaurant on Highway 11, but he never stopped dreaming about his much-loved cows and crops. Paul kept himself up-to-date on current affairs without missing a day. Paul continued planning for his family and his future endeavours, ignoring his limitations. He was not afraid of his next adventure. He was a spiritual man of immense faith for which he was greatly admired. Together with his wife, Paul served three missions in Canada for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Paul's legacy will continue on through his sons and daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Paul leaves behind wife Myra Joan Albers (Reed). Daughter Susan (Bruce Laycock) with grandchildren Christel, Janelle, Stephanie (Ephraim Radzik), Jennifer (Ian Isackson), David (Dona Christine Bennett), Katrina (Saul Reyna); and great grandchildren Liora, Eleanor, and Atreus Radzik, Hailey, Quinn, & Benjamin Isackson, Alexis Laycock, and Jalisco Reyna. Daughter Ruth (Rolf Moeller) with grandchildren Kara, Russell and Jared. Son Paul (Sheri Strang) with grandchildren Christopher, Julianne, Jennifer (Christian Ayotte), Carolynn, Anngela, Jonathan; and great grandchild Raina Ayotte. Son Peter (Jenny Barrick) with grandchildren Owain and Brigham. Son Dale (Veronica Wood) with grandchildren Alexander, Preston and Cyrus. Paul was predeceased by son Egon and daughter Karin Albers-Hopkins. There will be a viewing at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 10 Skyline Drive in Orillia on Saturday, March 7, from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Condolences to the family can also be made online at www.simcoefuneralhome.ca.
