I remember when I was a teenager and met Jim for the first time at Jon Cole's home. He grilled Pat and I about where we were going, what we were doing and when we'd be back. He was everyone's father, brother, friend. Carolyn and April please know that Dave and I are thinking of you, and as I write this I know Jim is watching over you both and will be with you always.

The main thing I admired about Jim was his dedication and love for his family. It was obvious he and Carolyn really enjoyed being with each other, they had fun and enjoyed different adventures, always together. When Jim spoke about his daughter, his eyes always lit up - you could see the love and pride in his face! As for Carolyn, she kept him laughing and enjoying life! So good to see a couple so in tune with each other. He will be sadly missed - my heart goes out to his family. He was good to me and I'll remember my door bell ringing and there stood Jim, either to give me advice about something, offering to help with an issue, or ... one time, even bringing me a Tortiere he thought I might enjoy. Which I did!

I will miss you Howie..... I always felt safe knowing you would be there in a minute if I ever needed you. You were the 'protector' of your loved ones and I know you worried about us all. I hope you have reunited with your father and our dad and mom and that you are all having a wonderful time... Without pain or suffering. Goodbye "Big Brother". You were taken too soon and too fast. Rest in peace.

This is indeed a sad day but I like to think of it this way....he has gone fishing with dad and if you listen carefully to the wind blowing in the trees you can hear dad giggling as he tells Jim how good the fishing is up here. You can also hear your mother saying " Jim you did a great job taking care of my daughter and raising your family".
