Aunt Fran was always the sharpest-witted person in the room. Never missed a beat.
Generous and ever-observant, courageous and contagious in that laugh that she did so much of.
She was always The Boss, long before Springsteen and we family embraced that gratefully.
She took her nieces in, along with her own at a most difficult time with grace and ease and made pigtails in my hair.
A most remarkable woman.
The Unforgettable Fran McVie. Weren’t we a lucky bunch to share her.

We have such wonderful memories of our special friend Fran for over 40 years Spent so many holidays with the McVie family and everyone was always welcome. We will aways remember Fran's wonderful wit and sense of humour which had everyone endlessly laughing. And of course her wonderful baking. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dave, John and Lisa and the family at this time.

My Aunt Fran, so incredibly important to me, so loving and kind throughout my life. Under that sarcastic witty and cutting outer crust there was a soft centre of vulnerable emotion. I saw that many times and our long talks revealed that there was much more to this complicated woman than most people understand. She was fiercely proud of her family, her children, grandchildren and my Uncle Dave. She loved her active life and dismissed her health issues with words like “Life’s a bitch but I will get through this…Okay? “ I admit I never doubted her unwavering commitment. There are so many memories of parties that brought family and friends together to play cards, hand out boobie prizes and share so many laughs that I continue to smile about them to this day. I will miss that BIG laugh, that HUGE smile and so much more that made my Aunt Fran so special. Here is a photo of Aunt Fran and my granddaughter Claire (her great, great niece)

Impeccably dressed Fran always had a positive attitude even while fighting health issues these last years. Never one to dwell on her own concerns, she was happy to play bridge, Trivial Pursuit, entertain in her home with lovely treats and go out for dinner. Clever and observant, Fran was one of a kind. Her stories of growing up in the country, her moves with her husband and children, retirement in Bayshore Village and then Leacock gave her lots of ammunition. Last year I spotted Fran and Dave making their way at warp speed in their scooters returning from an Orillia outing. There was no keeping Fran down! We will miss her very much! May her memory be a blessing. Anne and George Belanger

I met Fran when I joined the bridge club here in Bayshore Village 3 years ago. I was impressed with her bridge skills but even more by her kindness and quick wit. Even after she and Dave moved to Orillia, we were happy when she would come back to Bayshore for bridge on many a Wednesday afternoon. She was always dressed so smartly, crediting Lisa for her wardrobe. I will miss her very much. My sincere sympathy to Dave and the family.
