So sorry to hear of Scott's passing. Scott always had big dreams. He was always up on the lastest tech. He took bold steps in many areas. I worked for him on many of his ideas.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Scott’s passing. We went to business school together and we’re good friends for many years but we hadn’t connected in a long time. My memories of him are crystal clear and loved his personality. Always a super interesting guy. We actually had a part time business together post university. He was quite a unique person. Hard to believe all this time has passed since we first met 50 years ago. Take care Scott.

Scott was my neighbour for decades. Never had much traffic with him. I knew he was CPA who could sign a letter of reference when I applied for my firearms license. I asked, he signed. That was my first interaction with him, 25 years ago.
Then, one summer day pre-COVID (2019?), another neighbour threw a great backyard summer party for all the neighbours (thanks for that, Odette and Max). And that's where I really got to interact with Scott. I was so eager to pick his brain because I had been stewing in economics & finance stuff and I really wanted to know Scott's opinion on Modern Monetary Theory (MMT).
Now, I know most of you here couldn't care less about MMT, but did Scott's ears ever perk up when I mentioned MMT. He had heard about it, he said, and had begun to study it more seriously... but for the time being he was "on the fence." We talked about other things econ & finance and, given the party context, we were subject to a number of semi-welcome interruptions, but... it seemed we never quite finished covering all the subjects we would have, alone together. He told me to get in touch with him after the party, watch a Leaf game, chew the fat.
I regret not taking him up on that offer and I'm happy to have finally met someone who was curious about MMT.
Scott struck me a delightfully prickly man. I suspect he didn't suffer fools. I'm glad to have made his acquaintance.
My condolences to the family.
— Bill Shields, age 59, neighbour.

Scott was our one and only accountant for our entire professional career in Markham. We met him and Betty in the fall of 1985. He helped us with our first forays into lines of credit, leases, & our professional financial affairs, all the while being our friend and biggest supporter that “we were going to do just fine”. The computerization of our office was done under his tutelage and he was the person responsible for connecting us with our financial advisors. Our success was directly affected by his presence in our life. Apart from our professional relationships we were also friends, sharing in the growth of our families, our children’s achievements, & occasionally supporting each other as we failed miserably in the game of golf. We’ve posted a couple of photos of Scott in the early years of our friendship and one of a very enjoyable weekend with him and Betty in Bayfield in more recent times. Goodbye Scott. We truly miss you. Stephen and Monique

Fond memories of time spent with Scott coaching our young boys Andrew & Kent in Unionville hockey. Tournaments won & lost, trophies raised, lessons learned in sport & life. Smiles and happy faces in victory & loss, both a good reason for pizza, nachos, wings & pints (last element for coaches & parents only …). May you rest well, please send any inside info on next Leafs Cup win when you can.
So many great memories. Condolences to you, Betty, your boys and their families; with love from Mike & Marie
