My deepest condolences to Ruth’s family . My late husband, Fred, often spoke of his cousin Ruth and the wonderful friendship she had with his sister , Joan. Even though I didn’t know Ruth, reading about her life and endeavours , I know I would have cherished her friendship. Her career in journalism must be in the Presant blood as our granddaughter has also pursued it as a career and now is a writer and TV reporter.
Affectionately, Judy Presant

I knew Ruth "Mrs. Neily" because Betsy & I were classmates at Wheatley Area Public School. I lived just a little ways downstream and across the creek. As a kid, whenever I poled my raft upstream towards the 1893 bridge, I'd pass by the Neilys'. It was a creekside landmark because it was such a unique property. It was maintained so naturally. Mrs. Neily was a writer, but this was another influential aspect of her life. One that imprinted a long-lasting impression on me. I'm so happy to hear that Mrs. Neily was able to continue to live in her home through to last September. Sue & I would like to express our condolences to Betsy and all of Mrs. Neily's family. Sincerely, Tom & Sue Omstead, Canmore AB

Tom, we appreciate your beautifully crafted message. It's good to hear from you after so many years. Your memories take us back to our childhood, growing up on the creek, wandering through each others' back yards. Mum and your mother shared a love of poetry and their group inspired her to publish her books.
Thank you and best wishes to you and Sue.

Nancy (and family) - the loss of a mother is inevitable but never easy. I have enjoyed 'meeting' your mother through our chats and your reports of her ability to stay in place in her home until recent months. What joy you and your siblings must have brought to her with your accomplishments and what comfort you have added in caring for her. Wrap your warmest memories around you and know that she's with you in many unseen ways. Hugs, Judy

Dear Nancy,
Parri and I were so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. It doesn’t matter what age you are, it is still your Mom. My Dad was in Trillium for 2 years. He also had excellent care. So nice for you to have had your Mom close by. Wishing you warm memories with the passage of time. Take care.

Nancy, we’re saddened to learn of your mother’s recent demise. We send you condolences from Portugal as we think of you and the caring love you continued to give her. You must have many memories from those times! We both know how hard it is to o no be without a very steadfast mother. Hoping to see you soon this spring. With hugs, Prue and Dennis Smith

Ruth will long be remembered by so many. I loved running through the gardens and woods, no visit was complete without a stop at the pond. It was a magical place for me as a kid growing up in the neighbourhood. So many wonderful memories of the Neily family.
Thinking of all of you.

Hi Deb, how lovely to hear from you. Weren't we lucky to have the creek and woods to charge around in as kids. Thank you for reminding me about the pond, I hadn't thought of it in years. Sadly, it dried up after the windmill stopped pumping. We appreciate your kind thoughts.
