Obituary of Sonia Marcia Solobay

Solobay, Sonia Marcia ( nee Burdeny) It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our dear mom Sonia Marcia Solobay who passed away peacefully at Champlain Manor Retirement Residence on Thursday December 21st 2023 at the age of 91 years. Sonia grew up in Ethelbert Manitoba and moved to High Park Toronto before marrying Earl (predeceased 2016) and settling in Etobicoke to raise her three beloved daughters Debbie (predeceased 1971), Laurie (George) and Janet (John). Sonia was grandmother to Tim (Becky), Karyn (Daniel) and great grandmother to Joshua and Austin. Admired for her talents and competitive edge she was an avid golfer (including her hole in one!), and also often found on the curling rink. She enjoyed sewing, cooking Ukrainian foods, and tending to her beautiful flower garden. We would like to thank the nurses and staff of Champlain Manor, the Orillia Geriatric Outreach Team and the Bayshore Nurses for the compassionate care they provided. “Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever” Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
