My condolences on the loss of Ann. She was my music teacher when I was at Hodgson. She taught us so much about the possibilities of creating wonderful music. And even the nuts and bolts of organizing a concert. I learned so much from her. She left us a legacy of music lovers and creators.

Like a great many of her former students, I was very sad to hear of Ann's passing. She was, from my very vivid recollections, a deeply compassionate and dedicated music teacher and choir director during her time at Maurice Cody.
She clearly loved music and teaching equally and we were very lucky to experience her enthusiastic and thoughtful direction of the choir program.
Like another student posted here I, too, still have the ’79 Cody concert tape and remember still, to this day, the experience of singing under Ann’s direction.
I am grateful to have crossed paths with her and offer my sincerest condolences to her family and all who knew her and will surely miss her deeply. She was truly one-of-a-kind.

Ann was such a bright light in so many of our lives. Smart, beautiful, values-driven, kind, and of course a musical talent. Ann was a huge influence on so many of her students, me included. I’m so pleased to be able to share the 1979 Maurice Cody concert that I found in my old tape collection - how Ann created such deep and lush harmonies from such young kids is truly incredible. My sincere sympathies to all the family - sending you peace and love. Ann, you did "fill the world with love". xo Robin Fowler

Ann was a very much loved music teacher when I attended Hodgson school. She was so inspiring and joyful. I will never forget our choir singing Choose Something like a Star at Massey Hall in 1974. Ann infused so many of us with her love of music and dedication to her students.
Please accept my sincere sympathy to Anne's family and friends.

Ann and I lived together for two years early in our teaching careers. We had great fun and then rented our own apartments in the same building on Cambridge Avenue in Toronto. We lost touch afterward until my son Trevor attended a programme at the Boyne River while we still lived in Toronto. Ann was teaching there. I have very fond memories of her. May she rest in peace.

Ann was my music teacher at Hodgson Sr. Public and even though it was roughly 50 years ago, I still remember her. She stood out as a teacher… her passion, dedication and excellence made her unique. I remember some of the songs we sang as a choir and attending Kiwanis for competitions. I am thinking of her husband and family at this time… such an exceptional person, such a great loss.

I am very sad to hear the news of Ann's passing. She was my music teacher at Hodgson in the 70s. She was a unique and special teacher who made me want to be the best person I could be. I remember she would sometimes play songs for us that weren't part of the music curriculum. She just wanted us to hear them. That was the first time I think I really actively listened to music and tried to feel what she was feeling as she was always so moved by the music. I shared the same birthday as Ann and I have enjoyed wishing each other Happy Birthday for the last several years when we reconnected on Facebook. I will raise a toast in honour of Ann this year on my birthday. My deepest condolences to Ann's friends and family. She was one of the good ones!

I do remember her, I was a student of Glen Ames, from 65/66, 66/67. I'm pretty sure she was our music teacher. I remember her sweet face. She was a good teacher. I too have the love of music. Condolences to her family and friends.

Jack please accept my sincere condolences for you and your family. Ann was always a ray of sunshine to those she worked with and for.
We shared a small office in Toronto's North Ed Office for several years - the M & M twins - and in fact did several Math and Music workshops together over the years. Her enthusiasm and joie de vivre captivated those with whom she shared her love of music. It was also great to see how happy she was when she "retired" with you to Orillia. She will be missed by many but we still have such wonderful memories to recall.

Dearest Jack and Family…
There are no words that I can find to extend my deepest sympathy to all of you on the loss of your dear Ann…
We bought her parents’ home on Flaming Roseway in Toronto, taught together since 1968/69..at Glen Ames,.. at Hodgson Sr. Schools TBE, and then found ourselves, as neighbours in Orillia.
When Alan died, I don’t know how I would have survived without yours and Ann’s kindness during the worst time of my life. And although Ann didn’t ski, we would never have left her out of a group of friend’s trip to Mt. St. Anne…where she fell in love with the cat of the Inn’s owners…and subsequently named her cat, Pitou.
Ann and I had so many experience and adventures together….but sadly, this last one of hers took her to a place where at present, I cannot follow.. So….for a time, I will bid Ann a joyous rest, where she is no doubt preparing a Choir of Angels for a Christmas Concert…..cause she has such a wonderful talent for creating Heavenly Music!

We will always remember Ann as a happy, vivacious person who made Jack happy and had his best interests at heart. She was always a gracious hostess when we visited them on our many trips back to Canada from Australia.
Losing a cherished family member is so difficult for those left to mourn but we hope that memories of good times shared, will be a blessing. We regret that we cannot be there to offer Jack the personal support that he gave us on the death of our daughter in 1966.
Our thoughts are with Jack and all their family members at this sad time.

Ann was a gifted musician and a gifted teacher. She melded school choirs and orchestras into ensembles of excellence and Ann and the students has a good time while putting the work in! She was firm but fun! I will always treasure my memories of her working with choir and orchestra at Hodgson Senior School and of the many other occasions our paths crossed in the Toronto Board of Education.
Ann has left wonderful memories for many, many students and teachers. My sincere condolences to Jack and the rest of Ann's family

It was a long, long time ago but Miss Crysdale (Ann) is the one teacher who stands out most in my mind from my Primary or perhaps Junior Highschool years. I can't remember exactly which Grade I was in. Ann must have been very young herself at the time but she led our school choir and a small group of singers in what she called the "Small Ensemble" where we sang complicated harmonies. I will always remember her enthusiasm, love of music, we can do anything attitude and the sparkle in her eyes. Ann made a lasting impression on me and I am grateful for that. May she rest in peace. My sincere condolences to all of Ann's family and loved ones.

Anne taught most of the Music Specialist courses I took through York University. As an Instructor, she was dynamic, involved and passionate about her students and her subject. She was a great friend to me during that time. I owe my own Music teaching career and involvement with choirs and choral work to her. She was inspirational. Farewell, Ann. The world will be a lesser place without you.

My dear friend Ann...you are singing with the angels. We have been friends since 1970, having taught together at Glen Ames and then I lived with you in 1971 for summer school. There was no other like Ann...brilliant educator, musician, friend to so many and just a dynamite lady. So glad we had a visit a couple of years ago. Rest in peace my friend. Your earthly struggles are no more.

Ann, my sister in law, will be sorely missed by myself and my husband Peter Hunter. We loved dropping in to see her several times a year, whenever we were in Orillia. I have so many fond memories of Crysdale life with Ann—at the Kawagama cottage, and many holidays year after year. Thanks for the friendship and all the good times, and for being such a big fan of my kids!

Ann was my middle school music teacher at Hodgson back in the mid 70’s. We had just moved to Canada from New York City and I was in extreme culture shock, to say the least. But music saved me. Ann was kind to me at a time when it really mattered to me and I believe I was her concert master for a while, giving this displaced kid a place of honor in her world. I am very sad to hear she has passed. I’m not sure I ever fully expressed her importance to me during the years we spent reconnected on FB, as those years long ago are a grey blur. But I will always remember her and her loving nurturance. Hearing this news feels like a deep loss.
