Suus lived a long and interesting life. She spent her younger years near the North Sea in the Netherlands and summers with family in Switzerland. She survived WWII including the evacuation from the Arnhem area during Operation Market Garden in Arnhem, NLD. After the war, Suus volunteered in the rebuilding efforts in the Netherlands and Belgium.
She studied the University of Utrecht. While on an exchange trip to the United States she met a fellow student - her future husband Jan. They married in 1953 and emigrated to Canada living in Toronto, Montreal, and then again in Toronto.
As young retirees Suus and Jan travelled around the world for several years and later particularly enjoyed wild river canoe trips in northern Canada. She and Jan settled finally in Orillia in 1990 and became active supporters of many organisations over the years including the Wilderness Canoe Association, the Parry Sound Festival of the Sound, the Orillia Probus Club, the Snow Bunnies, the French Conversation Group and the Ontario Provincial Police. Throughout her life Suus had a passion for music and she taught flute privately for several years.
At the request of her wishes no reception will be held.
