Obituary of Connie Donely

DONELY, Constance ‘Connie’ Anita (née Gates) Passed peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2022 in her 92nd year. It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mom, most recently a resident of St Patrick’s Home in Ottawa and previously of Toronto and Barrie, and more than a dozen other places in Canada and Europe. Devoted military wife to Murray (passed 2005), graciously supporting him through the myriad of moves/postings and hosting commitments typical of a military officer’s career. Loving mother to Gregory (Mary) and Christina (Daniel). Committed volunteer throughout her life, working with disabled children, the elderly, hospital auxiliary and capital fundraising. Until dementia took away her unwavering independence, she was an avid lover of opera, theatre, ballet and gourmet food and she often combined all of these with her love of travel. Connie was born and raised in Nova Scotia and was fiercely proud of her maritime roots dating back several hundred years. So in keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service held and she will ultimately be repatriated to her beloved Nova Scotia. A special thanks to the team of nurses, doctors and staff at St Patrick’s Home for their dedicated care of mom over the past 2 years.
