Obituary of Joann Ruth Morden

Morden, Joann Ruth (nee Kinsey) July 18, 1933 – February 13, 2022 It is with great sadness that we share that Joann has passed away in her 89th year after a courageous and tenacious battle against the advancements of vascular disease. Born in the Beaches, Toronto to Helen (Grieg) and William Kinsey, Joann was the middle of three children. Having lost both of her parents as a young women, Joann developed a resilience and independence that carried her throughout life. As a young mother of two, Joann founded her own advertising agency and sales promotion company which she successfully managed for three decades. With clients across North America, Joann proved herself to be a natural and savvy entrepreneur. In 1998, after many years together, Joann married her beloved, R. Fraser Morden (deceased 2016). Snowbirds to Sarasota, Florida, and residents of Horseshoe Valley, Bayshore Village and the Villages of Leacock, they shared a passion for golf, bridge, euchre, and shopping. After Fraser’s death, Joann faced her new life with her trademark tenancy and adopted Suzy Q, a sweet tempered, black Havanese puppy. Inseparable, Suzy and Joann became a fixture throughout Orillia. She was beloved mother to Wendi Robins of Duncan B.C. and Michael Bertouche (Valerie) of Toronto, and step-mother to Karen Boucher (Michael) of Newmarket. A source of great pride were her grandchildren: Nicole, Jordan, Cameron and Mitchell. She is predeceased by her eldest sister Doreen (Ken), and brother, William (Dora). At the time of her death, Joann lived in Champlain Manor in Orillia ON, and the family thanks all the staff for their devoted care. As well, they recognize the exemplary care of Dr. Anne Ducas (RVH) and support of Dr. John Stokreef. Joann will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. In keeping with Joann’s wishes cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes at Stouffville Cemetery and a celebration of Joann’s life will be held at a later date.
