Obituary of Andrew William John Scarr
Scarr, Andrew William John
October 16, 1987 - May 3, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Scarr.
On May 3, 2021 at the tender age of 33, Andrew passed peacefully, in his childhood home, lovingly surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. He left this world with a full heart, knowing that he was so very loved.
Anyone else fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer would have gone quietly into the night, but Andrew, in his true warrior spirit, fought a hard and strong battle, one that is not much unlike the fish he would battle to reel in.
Andrew is survived by his adoring wife Carrie, and beloved bonus children, Brayden, Bryannah and Brandi. Cherished son of Christine and Travis Scarr. Loved by his parents in law, Marjan Serbinek (Leah Hackett), and Sandra Serbinek. Loving brother of Ashley Cooper (Brian Anderson), Rebecca Nicol (Justin), and brothers of the heart, Ryan Booth and Cory Cook. Survived by his devoted grandparents Dorothy and John Blackshaw, and Marjorie Hopper. Grandfather Melvin Ramsay (predeceased)
Proud Uncle to Scarlet, Gavin, Kaleb, Alex, Penelope, Coleson, and Kora. Andrew will be sadly missed by extended family and many, many friends. Carrie and the family are so grateful to the special friends who respectfully held space for Andrew and his family during his final days.
With a spirit as bright as the sun and a heart of gold, one of Andrew’s greatest loves was being a family man; he was a loving and devoted husband and best friend to Carrie, and an adoring bonus dad to his three beautiful bonus children. Cherished by all who knew him, Andrew was as kind and caring to a stranger on the street as to those he held dearest. He had a zest for life and a smile that went for miles, and it was rare not to see him in a vibrant mood. And his sense of humour? Let’s just say, if you love to laugh, Andrew was the guy you always wanted to be around!
An avid angler, Andrew lived his best life casting lines. To him, there was nothing better than looking back and reminiscing over those special moments spent with family and friends while fishing. Although he was a multi-species angler, his true passion was fishing trout and salmon. Natural beauty and conservation mattered deeply to Andrew, and he was an ambassador when it came to making a positive impact on the sport. He will be greatly missed by his fishing community, who was like a second family to him.
You are so deeply loved by so many, forever and always. We’ll be bringing you with us every time we cast a line—your lust for life dies naught. Rest easy, Andrew. Tight lines.
Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of life will be determined in the near future.
