Obituary of Clayton Ralph Short

SShort, Clayton Ralph August 6 1958 – January 24 2021 Passed away peacefully at the Georgian Bay General Hospital on January 24th 2021 with his children by his side. Clayton was in his 62nd year. Loving father to Mark (Twylla McQuiad), Chrystal and Kayla (Cody Smith). Proud grandfather to Janitta. Lifelong friend of Sherry Swain. Dear brother of Karleene Short-Johnston (Terry) and Ralph Short (Lori). Clayton will be dearly missed by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Clayton was a stubborn and hardworking man with a tough exterior but an absolute heart of gold. Clayton was the type of man that would always lend a helping hand (or tool) and made friends feel like family. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge regarding carpentry and home improvements with others. In Clayton’s short life he accomplished many things. He was a spectacular carpenter, dedicated hockey, t-ball and baseball coach, a business owner, contractor, volunteer firefighter and a friend to many. Above all else Clayton was a dedicated and loving father and grandfather. Clayton always put the needs of his family above his own and truly impacted so many people’s lives. Clayton loved many things including gardening, baking, pickling, helping with derbies, the cabin up north, being in nature, horses, wolves, Footloose, Cher, Garth Brooks, Gretchen Wilson, Coyote Ugly and McDonalds French fries. Clayton will be sincerely missed by many. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on October 3rd, 2021 starting at 11:00 a.m . In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital – Adult Diabetes Center through Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St. E. Orillia (705) 327-0021.
