Obituary of Lloyd Merkley

Passed away peacefully at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital with his family by his side on Monday November 12th, 2012 in his 82nd year. Son of the late William and Sarah (nee Butson). Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Hawke) and the late Eileen Barr. Loving Stepfather of Penny Doubinin (John) of Calgary AB, Lynn Bayne (Rob Fuscaldo) of Lefroy, Bruce Hawke (Tracey Chandler) of Beaverton, Brad Hawke (Kara) of Noth Bay; 6 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. Lloyd is the special uncle of Tammie, Allan, Sarah, Danny, and Tyler. Brother of Gord Merkley, Bill Merkley (late Marion) of Englehart, Gayle Creamer (late Bert) of Minden, Harvey Howe (Bonnie) of Orillia, late Ross Merkley (Doris) of Orillia, Wesley (predeceased in infancy) and the late Shirley McCrea. Lloyd is survived by his brother in law Cecil Barr (Jane Ann) of Orillia and by many nieces, nephews and friends. Thank you to the caring nurses on the palliative care floor of OSMH. A special thank you the Angels, Vanessa, Margaret, Rose, Nancy, Kaitlyn, Sonya, Debra, and Michael; Also to Dr. Harmathy, Dr. Campbell and all the pastoral care volunteers for all the kindness & special music. Thank you to the Forest Home United church and the Diaconal Minister Catherine Gutjahr for their prayers, phone calls, and visits. A Memorial Service will be held at the Forest Home United Church, RR#1 Orillia (Line 15 & Memorial Ave.) on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Forest Home United Church or to the OSMH Palliative floor 4C through the Simcoe Funeral Home 38 James Street E.
