I haven't been home for a while and I regret not being able to say goodbye one last time, but I'm grateful that I had the opportunity many years ago to express to both what they have meant to me. In a world that at times appears chaotic and incongruent, my grandparents were the unwavering rock steady influence that gave you hope. My children are too young to have enjoyed Nan and Granddad the way I did, but they'll always know the hope and where it came from.

I just want to say that after spending close to a year helping Vera with her daily rituals, she left a lasting impression on me. She had the most wicked, dry sense of humour, I enjoyed being around her everyday.She loved her family very much, and looked forward to visits from Pat, Heather, Gary and all the grandkids.I won't forget her ever,rest in peace Vera, you are missed!

Nan,
I will miss you...but always carry you with me. You taught me how to be a care giver! You cared for everyone of us despite yourself. Thank you for everything you have done for our family. I can never express the amount of impact you have had in a small message...just know that you have and the world is a better place because of it. Please take care of our Grandad and give him our love....you have it to take with you.

Somehow in the confusion and grief Nanny's little devil was missed in the death notice. Jase Joseph was Nanny's little boy. He was alway taking her walker for a run or her wheel chair for a ride. He gave her a poly wadle doodle to play which always made her smile. When he had treats always one for Nanny too. Nanny had to endure her much loved Ellen show being changed to Sponge Bob. The two of them also shared numerous candies! Jasey Joe was Nanny's little boy and we are so sorry you were missed in the notice.

Please accept our condolences . Vera was a dear neighbor for all the years our family has lived here. Our children loved it when she brought over chocolate buttons all the way from Devonshire. On Halloween, Jack and Vera's was always our first stop. Our family will never forget Vera. She was part of our lives here in Marchmont.

This week as my Mom stopped talking, I sat with her and did enough talking for both of us. I told her Dad had been waiting 7 years for her. I also told her that he had been looking after himself for the last 7 years so, she did not need to start spoiling him right away as she always did. She squeezed my hand and had a little smile. I am sure she is busy and happy looking after Dad again.

I will never forget the love my great grandparents had for one another. For nearly 60 years they only had eyes for each other. I am blessed to have been able to witness a love as great as theirs. I'm proud to be Vera's great granddaughter. She will always be the sweetest most elegant and proper woman I will ever come to know.
