Gerds: Elsie Elizabeth “Lil” (nee Hamilton)
“A life well lived” Passed away at Birchmere Retirement Residence in Orillia with family at her side, on Wednesday April 24th 2019 in her 84th year. Lil was born on June 17th 1935 in New Carlisle, Quebec. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Gerds. Dear sister of Frank Hamilton-predeceased (Betty), Mary Hamilton, Edith Moore(Charles)-both predeceased, Barbara Merrick (Robert), Clare Hagen (Bernard) and Ian Hamilton (pre deceased). Lil was a retired registered nurse, an avid dog lover, traveler, cook and a person that embraced all that life offered to her. She will be fondly remembered by her dear friend Diane Inger, her many friends and family. A Celebration of Lil’s life will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church – Price’s Corner on Saturday May 11th 2019 at 1 p.m. Followed by a reception. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street E. Orillia.
