I was fortunate to work with Andrew at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto. He was brilliant with anything computer-related, had an insatiable scientific curiosity, was a lot of fun, and had a great offbeat sense of humour. He loved all kinds of exotic cuisine, and good beer, and had a musical bent (he played the bassoon for a time with a U of T ensemble, I recall him telling me). I will always remember him as the smart, interesting, funny, big-hearted guy that he was. My sincerest condolences go out to Andrew's family.

I just learned the sad news.
I am so very sorry. Andrew was a friend. His smile and affection were, to me, a light in the darkness.
We drifted apart over the years. Then would connect again for a brief while. Then drift apart again. I remember visiting him in Toronto and in Vancouver when he was on top of the world, and when times were more challenging. We have both had our ups and downs over the years. But almost every time I saw him, that smile would always seem to come out again to light up the day.
I am just starting to realize how much I will miss him.

My most heart felt condolences to your family. I was friends with Andrew in high school and kept in contact with him for quite some time after we graduated. I will always remember him as a smart, caring person. He was a good friend of mine back then when I needed one. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm sad to hear of Andrew's passing. Andrew and I became friends at PSCI, through our mutual interest in computers and band. I remember many days playing games, or "coding" (I know, geeky) in his parents basement. He introduced me to Brio, the soda pop that in-explicitly was stocked at his house instead of Coke. Band trips, movies and even the occasional sleep over. We drifted apart after high school, both going our own ways, but I will always remember his forthrightness, his passion, intelligence and engagement. While we were actively friends for only a few years, I can point to two significant ways in which he influenced my life. And that is the sign of a person with something special.

I have fond memories of playing in the PSCI Senior Band and the Huronia Symphony Orchestra with Andrew. We had a wonderful conversation on the bus from Toronto to Orillia one afternoon. I had 'discovered' Andreas Vollenweider while at university but Andrew was already familiar with him. It was then that he gave me his Walkman and introduced me to Mike Oldfield and the Tubular Bells album. We had such a great time sharing music and experiences and I have never forgotten that day. I will always remember Andrew as a really lovely, intelligent and engaging person and I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
My sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. I hope your memories, and those shared by others, will help to sustain you through the grief in the months and years ahead. Rest in peace Andrew.
