Obituary of Leonard Cotton R.C.A.F
Peacefully, at the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 7th, 2012 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Dorothy Cotton (nee Jamieson) for 58 years. Much loved father of Bruce and his wife Lydia of Calgary, David of Orillia, Craig and his wife Linda of Orillia and Lloyd and his wife Diana of Orillia. Loving grandfather of James, Kathryn, Kara, Kendra, Michelle, and Krista. Dear brother of Peg Booth and Lee Clarry. Len will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends. Len joined the RCAF in 1940, trained as an Aero Engine Mechanic at the Galt Aircraft School. Len was posted to the #10 Repair Depot in Calgary in 1943, he remustered to Air Crew and graduated from pilot training with the rank of Pilot Officer and retired from the RCAF with the rank of Flying Officer in 1945. He worked in Toronto as an insurance claims adjuster until 1969 when he moved to Orillia and opened an adjusting office. In 1974 he semi-retired and worked as the Clerk-Treasurer of Rama Township until his retirement in 1982.Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Len's Life will be held on Friday May 11th, 2012 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, Orillia (Vimy Room) with eulogies at 7 p.m. Memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, Orillia Branch #34 would be appreciated and will be received by the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James St E, Orillia L3V 1L1 705-327-0221.
