I will not be there to celebrate you in person with your family and friends Dad but I want you to know I celebrate you every day. I try to be the good person you raised me to be. My first memory of you teaching me about living and life go back to about 3 years of age. You layed on the floor with your slipped disc and taught me that hurts will heal with time and patience and smart management. We cracked beech nuts together and you taught me that using the right amount of pressure will yield a whole nut rather than nut butter. Apparently useful in human relationships as well. We watched hockey together and I loved sharing popcorn with you when we did. I never learned the rules of hockey although you taught me something every game. I wasn't there for the hockey. I was there for the popcorn... and OK, to be close to you. You always reassured me that I could do anything I wanted with my life and encouraged and supported me when I did decide I would study to become a nurse. I realized from a young age that you were dedicated to working to support your family and knew that all you did you did to make life nicer for all of us. You gave me the boundaries that I needed to grow up feeling safe and cared about. You gave me rope to make my way out into the world but not enough to hang myself. Words do not convey all of the thanks I want to give you for being my father and for being my dad. I love you with all my heart. I will see you again when it is my turn to transition to other side. I know this because the love that we share is undying. Rest well Papa. I love you.

Wow. It's hard to believe that Uncle Bill has passed. He was an exceptional guy with a great sense of humour and an incredible insight with regards to nature and the environment. I hunted and fished with Uncle Bill over the years and learned as much as I could from him but he always stayed one step ahead of me.
There's no question that many others benefited from his knowledge and experience as well.
He will be missed by so many. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences to your family. Losing a parent is something I am still learning to deal with, myself. Bill was always a nice man,who I remember as being the 'Charles Ingalls' of the neighbourhood. Handy with things, kind, outdoorsy, and friendly. My prayers are with you as you remember him.
Angie and family.
